work on display at the harbour Gallery 16th July to 29th July 2014

NYC 1
The two pieces of work on display are a part of the experimentation before reaching my final piece of work.

I started experimenting by making a large collage of my interpretation, experiences and memories of New York. A small section of the finished collage was used to make the background of NYC 1 and for NYC 2 a part of the collage, while still in the making was photographed and then scanned onto the computer to make a repeat pattern.  The people are taken from a quick study of one person walking around the room while at a life drawing class then heat transferred onto material and free machine embroidered around the figures.

NYC 2

3rd year exhibition 2014

This is my final piece of work, my first installation representing a floating New York skyline, inspired by Han Feng's floating paper city. It has been created with a variety of materials and methods of displaying my ideas. My aim was to create 50 pieces, to represent a recent celebration, but unfortunately time ran away with me. Still not sure about it ,but it was certainly a learning curve!
